A GUITARIST with one of the biggest bands of the 1970s is to give a masterclass to music students.

Elliot Randall, former member of Steely Dan, will meet students at Sunderland College’s Shiney Row Campus tomorrow. (15th January)

Mr Randal will also be joined by double bassist Neil Harland and drummer Paul Smith who between them have supported acts such as Joe Cocker, Tony Christie and Katherine Jenkins.

Students will be treated to a live performance, followed by the opportunity to perform original songs in front of Mr Randal.

The students will also be shown how to set up a music studio and record their tracks.

Mr Randal is known for his guitar solos with the rock band in the 70s but hopes his large wealth of knowledge of the music industry will be of great help to the students.
