POLICE are investigating after a motorist filled up at a service station then drove off without paying.

A man driving lime green Renault Scenic put £65 of fuel in the car's tank at Bradbury Services, near Sedgefield, County Durham, at about 10.40pm on Wednesday night (Wednesday, January 9) then left the scene.

He is described as aged 20 to 30 and was wearing a navy blue and yellow, zipped Nike top.

It is believed the registration plate NG53 HHF displayed on the vehicle was stolen earlier in the day from Northallerton.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Durham police on 101, and ask for PC John Seymour at Sedgefield, or call Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
