LIFEBOATMEN had to rescue a man who leapt from a harbour wall while the tide was out.
Whitby’s inshore lifeboat was launched shortly before midnight on Friday after the man climbed over a barrier and jumped into the town’s harbour near the bridge house.
As the tide was out he landed on hard sand, hurting his hip and wrist, and because of his injuries could not be brought back up the harbour wall by ladder.
The inshore boat was instead sent into the harbour and the man was taken back to the lifeboat station where he was seen by paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment.
