A man was airlifted to hospital this afternoon (Saturday, January 12) following a collision between a Land Rover and Mercedes Benz van on the A1 southbound in North Yorkshire.
The accident happened shortly before 3pm between Boroughbridge and Allerton Park, near Knaresborough.
Police, ambulance and fire crews from Boroughbridge, Ripon and Knaresborough attended.
Fire crews arrived to find the male driver of the Land Rover out of the vehicle and receiving a precautionary check-up from paramedics.
However, firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free his passenger due to his injuries, which included leg and spinal injuries.
He was airlifted to hospital by air ambulance.
The man and woman in the van were unhurt.
