A HOLOCAUST memorial day is taking place at the Dolphin Centre on January 28.
The annual ceremony, the thirteenth held in Darlington, marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945 and remembers those who suffered through the holocaust and recent genocides.
The theme of this year’s ceremony is ‘Communities Together: Build a Bridge’ to encourage people to support those who have been forced to live through horrendous experiences, and to respect each other’s differences and place within society.
The ceremony will include a testimony from Deanna van der Velde of the Association of Jewish Refugees, as well as readings, music and prayer.
It starts at 1pm in the Dolphin Centre’s central hall and is open to all.
