Metal thieves target Cockfield farm gates
3:48pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News By Stuart Laundy, Reporter (Barnard Castle & Teesdale)
FARMERS in Teesdale are being urged to security mark metal gates on their property after three were reported stolen.
The gates, which went missing from a field along Esperley Lane, Cockfield, just after the turn of the year, were being used as a sheep pen.
PC Martin Dauber said: “I would advise all farmers in the area to mark their metal gates in some way so that they can easily be identified.
“Hopefully, this will discourage would-be thieves from targeting premises but should a theft occur, the stolen metal can be traced to its original owner if it is recovered.”
