PLANS have been submitted to create a drive-thru coffee shop on a former steelworks site.
Durham County Council has received a planning application on behalf of Starbucks to create the café near the A692 in Consett.
If approved it will be near the Soprano’s restaurant, which has recently closed after going bust and a new Tesco superstore, which is yet to be built.
The development will create ten full time and 20 part time jobs for people in an around the town.
Signet Planning has submitted the application on behalf of Project Genesis, which has regenerated the site, and Starbucks.
