STUDENTS studying uniformed public services at East Durham College have presented the Great North Air Ambulance with a cheque from their charity work last year.
The group of students held a charity day in October, which saw them washing cars, running a bake sale and also putting college lecturers and staff into the stocks for a good soaking.
The students were thrilled to raise £250 for the Great North Air Ambulance who sent a representative to the college to receive the cheque.
Course Leader Gill Draper said: “I am very proud of all the students for the hard work and effort they have put in to this fundraising event.
“The group chose the Great North Air Ambulance as its charity this year as they felt it was a charity that benefits the whole community and one that they might have to call upon at some point in their lives.
“The students planned and prepared the activities as part of their course and they should feel very satisfied and proud of their efforts.”
From its origins in 1991, the Great North Air Ambulance Service has grown to become a leading healthcare charity, operating three helicopters in the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
