A MOTORIST escaped with minor injuries after her car collided with a barrier and rolled on to its side.
The woman, believed to live locally, was travelling on Carmel Road North, in Darlington, when her red Chevrolet Matiz hit the crossing at the junction with Hummersknott Avenue just after 10am today (Wednesday, January 9).
Firefighters cut the roof of the car to free the driver, who was travelling alone in the car.
Police confirmed nobody else was injured in the incident.
She was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police closed Carmel Road North for about an hour, with traffic diverted along Abbey Road.
