Police are hunting two men who entered a Shildon house and demanded money and cigarettes from the occupant.

The homeowner was pushed to the floor during the raid on Holly Hill at 5.50pm on January 4. The burglars stole ten sleeves of 821 cigarettes and 30 pouches of Amber Leaf rolling tobacco.

It is thought the crime is due to the illegal sale of tobacco. Anyone who can help police enquiries should call Shildon Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.

GARAGE BREAK-IN: Burglars broke in to a garage on St John’s Road, Shildon, and stole a Flymo Hover Mower. They also took a Powercraft cordless drill, a Black and Decker hedge trimmer, a Dremel style drill and a soldering iron in a black case. Anyone who can help police enquiries should call Shildon Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.

PANTO SHOW: The Tearaways youth theatre group is to perform the Snow White panto at the Civic Hall, Shildon, from January 24-27.
