3:21pm Monday 7th January 2013 in News
A TOWN's post office will be open for longer following a modernisation project.
Spennymoor Post Office, on Oxford Street, will become an open-plan branch with six serving positions when it re-opens on February 14.
It will be closed for the work between February 6 and February 13.
The new opening hours will be 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Wednesday, and 9am to 5.30pm, Thursday to Saturday - an extra two and a half hours a week.
Sue Richardson, Post Office regional network manager for Scotland and North England, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in Spennymoor.
“We are confident that this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
The nearest alternative post offices are Ferryhill Post Office, 2 Eldon Terrace, Ferryhill, and Middlestone Moor Post Office, 21-23 Central Drive, Middlestone Moor, Spennymoor.
