A FAMILY-RUN skip hire company has been banned from transporting waste after breaching environmental regulations.

Albert Hill Skip Hire, in Darlington, will be stripped of its licence to move waste on January 18.

The company was previously banned from operating at its depot on St Nicholas Industrial Estate, in Dodsworth Street, Darlington.

Customers have been warned they could be committing a crime if they trade waste with Albert Hill Skip Hire after January 18.

A spokesman said: “It is important that waste is managed properly and we are determined to tackle illegal waste activity.

“These operations impact on everyone, undermine legitimate businesses and damage the environment.

“Anyone producing waste must only hand it to an authorised person, and Albert Hill Skip Hire will have no such authorisation from January 18.

“Those who have a skip on hire must get it removed by the company before the deadline.”
