Durham County Council has given approval to a plan to change the use of the Chester Car Sales site in North Burns, by the town’s market place, from car sales to car valeting.

COFFEE MORNINGS Chester-le-Street Methodist Church holds coffee mornings in its Cornerstones Community Centre, in North Burns, on Saturday mornings between 9am-11.30am.

ZUMBA SESSIONS: Zumba exercise to music sessions are held on Saturdays between 11am-noon at Chester-le-Street Community Centre, Newcastle Bank. They cost £3. For details call 0191-388-4752.

SPEAK FRENCH: The Park View Community Association in Chester-le-Street is launching an eight-week evening class in holiday conversational French on Monday January 14. It will be held weekly between 6.30pm-8.30pm. For details call 0191-386 1043.
