ANIMAL lovers are being urged to donate unwanted items or time to a charity shop.

Staff and volunteers at the PDSA store, in Spennymoor, are appealing for donations such as CDs, books and toys along with clothes and shoes to restock their shelves.

Manager, Pauline Warke, said: “As well as de-cluttering your home, you’ll be helping a very worthy cause at the same time.”

More volunteers are also needed to lend a hand at the shop, at 23 Festival Walk.

Mrs Warke added: “We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about pets and who can lend a hand at Spennymoor PDSA store.”

She said volunteers have fun, make new friends and gain new skills and training that can boost their CV.

Funds raised at the shop help the PDSA pay for veterinary treatment for the pets of people in need and to promote responsible pet ownership.

Donations can be taken to the store from Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 5pm.
