UNSIGNED talent from the North-East will get a chance to shine thanks to a new radio show.

BBC Tees’ new programme BBC Introducing aims to support and expose the best bands in the region.

The show will be hosted by popular DJ Bob Fischer who is renowned in the area for discovering and showcasing local talent.

Thanks to receiving airplay on his BBC Tees show, bands like Cattle & Cane, Collectors Club and Weird Shapes have attracted national acclaim and gone on to play at the prestigious T in the Park festival.

Mr Fischer said: “I’m delighted to continue with what I’ve always tried to do with my BBC Tees shows over the years - seeking out new talent of all genres, and giving exposure to unusual, fascinating and brilliant new music that listeners might not otherwise ever get to hear.”

On a national level, the BBC Introducing format has given breaks to artists including The Ting Tings, Florence and the Machine, Two Door Cinema Club and Chipmunk.

Musicians can submit their work for consideration by visiting bbc.co.uk/music/introducing/uploader. BBC Introducing will be aired on BBC Tees between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday nights.
