A SERIES of improvements are planned for a skate park, which has proved a big hit with its users.
The Thirsk8 Park, in the North Yorkshire market town, opened six months ago and has proved popular with young people, with about 100 using the site regularly.
Now its management committee wants to build on this success. Next year, they are planning to landscape the area, add extra seating, bins and signs and hold workshops and skate jam events for young people.
They are also looking to recruit more volunteers to the group.
“The park is managed by a small team of volunteers, but more people are needed to help open and close the facility each day and do small litterpicks – jobs that will take no more than ten minutes,” said chairman David Bird.
“We urge anyone with children who use the park and who live locally to consider volunteering. Any offers of help would be gratefully received.”
The plaza-style, skate park, made from moulded concrete, is open every day from 8am until dusk, but no later than 9pm.
