A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy involved in a four-car pile-up on Boxing Day is still in hospital today (Monday, December 31). Max Doddy, aged seven, of Eston, near Middlesbrough, sustained a broken leg, broken collar bone and broken ribs but his condition is described as stable. The collision happened on the Kirkleatham roundabout on the A174, near Redcar.

TIME CALLED: Licensing experts could put a stop to 24-hour drinking in a town. Hartlepool council’s licensing committee has proposed preventing clubs and bars from selling alcohol between 2am and 6am. Police say limiting drinking could reduce instances of violence in the town. The issue will now be discussed by the full council.
