A WOMAN has been warned she could go to jail if she breaches a suspended sentence order after a court heard friends cut her curfew tag off.

Charlotte Davies from Bishop Auckland was given the order in November - part of which was to be in her Cedar Road home from 7pm to 7am every night for 12 weeks.

But on December 7, seven days after the order was made, the electronic tag monitoring her curfew was cut from her ankle.

Davies, 42, returned to Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, December 31) where she admitted breaching the order, which also includes a 12 week suspended prison sentence.

She was given the order in November after being convicted of two charges of assaulting a PC, two charges of persistently making nuisance phone calls to the emergency services and one charge of assault.

The court heard Davies started well and continued to attend all appointments with the probation service since the tag was cut off.

In mitigation, the court heard Davies had been out with friends in Bishop Auckland earlier that day and invited some back to her home where they had more drinks.

When she said she could not go out again with them due to her curfew, three men held her down and cut the tag off with a pair of scissors, the court heard.

Magistrates were told that Davies resisted the removal and was left with a cut leg.

Magistrates added another four weeks to her curfew order and warned that any further breaches could lead to imprisonment.
