Donation for motorcycle initiative

First published in News

A MOTORCYCLE project for young people has received a donation of nearly £500.

The Richmond Area Motorcycle Proficiency Scheme (Ramps) was founded in 2006 to encourage teenagers between 13 and 19 to act responsibly whilst enjoying off-road motorcycling.

The organisation is based at Risedale Sports and Community College youth centre at Hipswell in Catterick Garrison.

This year Sodexo Defence, based in Catterick, held a 22-mile walk around Leyburn which raised £450 for Ramps. The money has been used to purchase crash helmets and safety clothing for participants.

Volunteers with the organization run courses over four consecutive Saturdays in basic motorcycle riding skills, culminating in an off-road riding session.

To attend a course, or for more information, call RAMPS project co-ordinator Kev Mason on 01748-836558 or 07900-033736
