A FIVE-year-old girl came face to face with herself this week after agreeing to take part in a new advertising campaign on Hambleton District Council refuse wagons.

Annie Thorp, from Thornton Watlass, is featured swimming at Bedale Leisure Centre, where she regularly takes swimming lessons, on the side of the wagons.

The district council is using its new fleet of refuse wagons to advertise its work. The first panels – fitted using the Spedian system – include graphics on leisure centres and urging residents to check bin tags to find out about collection day changes.

Coun Mark Robson said: “This is a first for the council – but these wagons are out and about in the district five days a week and are great mobile advertising hoardings.

“We want local people to get used to looking at the trucks to see what our messages are – it could be about changes to bin collection dates, rental space in our workspaces or the latest leisure classes.”
