A MAYOR has opened a refurbished school library.
Councillor John Wilkinson, the Mayor of Durham, cut the ribbon on the refitted library at Belmont Cheveley Park Primary School, in Belmont, Durham City.
The improvements, which cost around £5,000, were paid for with money raised by the Friends of the School group over the last 18 months.
To celebrate its opening, storyteller Adam Bushnell visited the school to act out entertaining tales to the pupils.
Coun Wilkinson said he hoped the refurbished library would improve reading skills and encouraged pupils to enjoy it and look after it properly.
