AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a married father-of-three who was fatally injured after falling off a lorry.

Robert Ismay, of Melbourne Place, Sowerby, died after being hit by scaffolding poles from his truck while delivering them to a steel firm in Sheffield.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene, but the 42-year-old lorry driver, who hailed from London, was pronounced dead.

A funeral service was held at St Oswald’s Church, Sowerby, on Tuesday (December 18).
