Dog stolen at knifepoint in Guisborough

First published in News by

A WOMAN was threatened at knifepoint and had her dog stolen on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old was walking her dog along Aldenham Road in Guisborough when she was approached by an unknown man who held her at knifepoint before stealing her Australian Shepherd puppy.

The dog is grey and white with no tail and was wearing a thin red lead with a metal choker type collar. The breed is similar to a Border Collie, has a shaggy coat and is approximately knee height in size.

The man is described as being around 30 or 40, medium build and wearing dark clothes and a dark peaked hat.

Police believe it is an isolated incident but are asking people to remain vigilant and to contact them with any information about the robbery. Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Mark Rayner on non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

What is this Country coming to, when dogs are being stolen from their owners a knifepoint. I hope this dog like many others are reunited with their owners very soon. It is not an isolated incident, dogs are being stolen or 'missing' all around the area. Angel a GSP has been missing since 6th December from Cawthorne Basin, Barnsley, there is a nationwide search for her safe return and a subtantial reward on offer - others are: attempted theft of the Weim from Barnsley the week before and the sbt in Eggborough on the 11th. There was a boxer actually taken form Sheffield town centre earlier this week. How many more?

This is by no means is an isolated incident. Within Yorkshire there are numerous monthly occurrences of much loved family pets being stolen for what can only be assumed as financial gain. The police depending on the county are somewhat lack lustre leaving it to animal charities and bereft owners to try and find these animals. Theft is theft and it doesn't take a genius to conclude that there is a network of people intent on causing misery purely for greed. Such a rife issue warrants a journalistic feature Www.findmissingangel

When are the Police going to take this more serious??? Held at knife point for your family dog?? Stolen dog stories in the last few weeks are heartbreaking, the poor dogs and owners are let down by everyone, Pass the buck along and the dogs suffer, so do the loving owners, more action needs to be taken.

This is getting ridiculous - its happening all over and the police don't seem to want to do anything about it. Just because its happening in different force areas does not mean that there is not a major regional problem. It is obviously organised crime - police sort it out!
