FIVE apprentices are getting charitable support for their studies.
The group, all at New College Durham, in Durham City, have received grants towards tools and equipment they need for their training from the Lord Crewe charity.
The presentations took place today (December 13) in Durham Cathedral.
Those to benefit were: Chloe Hauxwell, 17, from Framwellgate Moor, a hairdressing apprentice with Howarth Hairdressing; Kyle Tindale, 17, from Langley Moor, a painting and decorating apprentice with Regent Decorators; Jake Williamson, 17, from Brandon, also a painting and decorating apprentice with Regent Decorators; Mark Hunter, 19, from Gilesgate, a motor vehicle apprentice with Lumsden and Carroll; and Daniel Bilton, 23, from Gilesgate Moor, a motor vehicle apprentice with A690 Specialist Cars.
On his death in 1721, Lord Crewe, the Bishop of Durham, left all his property to be administered in trust for charitable purposes.
Grants are available to students living and studying in Durham City on a manufacturing, technology or science course.
