SALTBURN'S James Arthur is through to the final two in the X Factor.

The 24-year-old former pub singer wowed the judges with a stunning rendition of  the Nina Simone classic 'Feeling Good' before duetting with mentor Nicole Scherzinger on Adele's 'Feel My Love'.

He will go up against Swindon soul singer Jahmene Douglas in tomorrow's finale.

Liverpool crooner Christopher Maloney went home.

Take That frontman Gary Barlow said of Arthur's opening number: "When you come on the stage I become an audience member for a second and I thoroughly enjoy every single performance you do."

While N-Dubz singer Tulisa said Arthur was "everything this competition should represent in 2012."

Louis Walsh, meanwhile, said: "Every week you have brought something new to this show."

Scherzinger, not surprisingly, was the most enthusiastic of the critics saying: ""It's a new dawn, it's a new day and a whole new life for you my friend and I hope you are feeling good."
