A CHARITY is hoping to receive a financial boost from skaters using a North-East ice rink.

The ice rink will be part of the Christmas Festival which is being held at DurhamGate, near Spennymoor, in aid of the Butterwick Hospice, Bishop Auckland.

It will be housed in an ice marquee and will be open between Thursday and Sunday, December 13 and 16. It will be open from 9.30am to 8pm, and to 5pm on the Sunday. The rink can be booked for exclusive parties too.

A free Christmas market will run on the Friday and Saturday (December 14 and 15) from 9.30am and 8pm and from 9.30am and 5pm on the Sunday.

Father Christmas will visit DurhamGate and meet local children in a specially-built grotto.

Children visiting Santa’s Grotto will have the chance to have their photo taken with Santa and have their face painted and receive a goody bag.

Tickets for the ice rink are £8.50 for adults, £4 for children under 16, family tickets for two adults and three children aged under-16, are £22.
