3:46pm Monday 3rd December 2012 in News
AMERICAN New Wave band Blondie are set to perform to an audience of 5,000 at an 8,600-acre beauty spot.
The group, which has sold more than 40 million albums and is fronted by Deborah Harry, will stage a show at Dalby Forest, near Pickering, on Friday, June 28.
Blondie follows in the footsteps of Pulp, Paul Weller and Status Quo in performing at the Forestry Commission venue, which this year hosted sell-out Will Young and Plan B gigs.
Alternative rock band The Lightning Seeds, which had hits with Three Lions and Lucky You, will perform an acoustic set at the show.
The Forestry Commission is yet to announce the act for its second North Yorkshire show next year, with a spokesman saying it remained in negotiations.
Income generated from ticket sales will be spent on improving the forests for both people and wildlife.
For tickets, which cost £36, phone 0300-068-0400 or visit forestry.gov.uk/music go from 9am on Friday (December 7).
