YOUNGSTERS at Durham Chorister School are performing a nativity play.
Almost 70 children from the nursery and pre-prep departments of the school, which is linkefd to Durham Cathedral, are involved in the production of Maurice the Mule.
It tells the traditional Christmas story from the viewpoint of a mule trying to get a good night’s sleep despite the many animals that turn up at the stable.
“Eventually, when it seems that there surely cannot be room for anyone else a young couple arrive on a donkey, accompanied by a star,’’ said a school spokeswoman.
The show is being performed tomorrow (Tuesday, December 4) for other pupils, on Wednesday for local nursery schools and on Thursday for parents.
The cast is: Maurice the Mule, Edward Jenkinson; Star, Grace Hird; Joseph, Henry Hopkins; Mary, Rosie Heslop; Donkey, Ed Bligh.
