A WOMAN whose father emigrated to Australia is trying to trace any relatives she might still have in the North East.
MAUREEN MULLER, of Mount Gambia, in south Australia, would like to hear from the brothers or relations of her father, WILFRED WHITAKER, who left his home in west Hartlepool to start a new life Down Under in 1971.
The Whitaker family, led by Thomas and Charlotte, lived in Wensleydale Street, Hartlepool, where they had five sons – Harold, Wilfred, Arnold, Arthur and Stanley.
Harold was killed in the First World War, but Mrs Muller hopes that her three remaining uncles, or their offspring, might still be living in the Hartlepool area.
She knows that her Uncle Arnold had two children, Faith and Phillip.
Anyone with information on the Whitaker family can email Mrs Muller at lissamen@hotmail.com
