A CHOIR will re-tell the Christmas story through Tudor music next week.

Renaissance, a chamber choir of Durham University students, will present a programme of unaccompanied music charting the development of Tudor music in parallel with the events of the Christmas story.

The choir, founded last year, is conducted by Ben Rowarth. The 15-strong group specialises in unaccompanied music from the Renaissance and the 20th and 21st centuries.

The concert, Renaissance: A Tudor Christmas, will be staged in the Norman Chapel of Durham Castle at 1pm on Saturday, December 1. Tickets, priced £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, can be bought at the door or booked in advance from Durham’s World Heritage Site visitor centre, on Owengate, by calling 0191-3343805.

There will be a free performance at Durham Cathedral’s Chapter House on Friday, December 8, at 1.15pm.
