Youths invited to meet police about activities in Crook

POLICE will hold a meeting with young people in Crook to see what activities they want to do in the wake of an anti-social behaviour problem.

Officers from the town’s neighbourhood policing team are urging youngsters to meet them to discuss the provision of clubs and activities currently.

During recent troubles with anti-social behaviour on the Low Mown Meadows Estate caused by a gang of youths coming from across the Crook area, it was suggested that one cause could be boredom with some saying there needs to be more for young people to do.

Sergeant Shaun Davis from Crook Neighbourhood Policing team said there are activities and clubs in Crook and he wants to know young people’s opinions about them.

He said: “There are things to do but we want to know why they are not necessarily being used.

“Are they wrong type of activities or on at the wrong time?

“We want to know what young people think and what we can do to help them.”

Staff from Durham County Council and local youth groups will also be at the meeting, which will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday (November 27) at West Durham Youth and Community Centre next to Glenholme Park.

Youngsters from across the Crook area and their parents are invited to attend.
