TELEVISION gameshow fans have the chance to get their hands on a knock-out lot when items from a popular 1970's series go under the hammer.

Thomas Watson Auctioneers and Valuers in Darlington, will be selling five giant rubber costumes from the BBC  comedy gameshow ‘It’s A Knockout’ at its auction on Tuesday, November 27.

The outfits will be sold as one lot and include a Santa suit, cowboy-style costume and a headless man.

Peter Cartwright, auctioneer and valuer at Thomas Watson, said that the show’s huge following meant that the auction house was expecting to attract a busy saleroom, with people keen to get their hands on a piece of television history.

He said: “It’s A Knockout really was a British institution and one of the most iconic TV shows of its time.

“Quirky and unusual lots always prove popular, and we are sure that there will be a great deal of interest in the items we have on offer on November 27.

“I can imagine there will be many fans of the show who will be adding these costumes to their Christmas list.

"After all, it is a rarity to have the chance to get your hands on something so unique.”

Mr Cartwright added: “People interested in bidding for the items can do so either by coming along to the saleroom or logging on to our website and taking part in the auction live.”

The auction starts at 10am.
