By Bruce Unwin, Chief Reporter (Durham)
POLICE are appealing for information after a sign was stolen from a sewing and interior design shop.
Seven stainless steel letters were removed from the board at the Just Sew premises in Newbottle Street, the main shopping thoroughfare in Houghton-le-Spring, on Wearside.
The letters disappeared from the shop front between 7pm on Thursday, November 15, and 8.30 the following morning.
It is expected that it could cost up to £1,200 to replace the sign.
Police have been checking with local scrap dealers in Northumbria and neighbouring Durham force areas and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the sign is asked to contact Northumbria Police, via the new 101-non-emeregency number, asking for extension 69191.
