THE family of a great-grandmother who was stabbed to death in her home have paid tribute to her as they prepare for her funeral.

Pamela Glen, also known as Pamela Turner, died on October 20 at her flat in the Spring Hill area of Darlington.

A post-mortem examination found that she died from stab wounds.

Ms Glen’s daughters, Arna McCabe and Janine Wilby, described their mother as a strong woman who loved her family.

Ms Glen, 61, had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her son-in-law, Michael Mc- Cabe, who spoke on behalf of the family, said: “She was a strong character. She was very loving.

“She was a fantastic mother- in law. We are a very strong family and we all stick together.

“The whole thing still has not really sunk in yet and now we have to go through the funeral.

We wanted to make a family tribute to her.”

Ms Glen’s funeral will take place at 11.45am on Monday, November 26 at Darlington Crematorium. Close friends and family are asked to gather before at 10 Ridgeway, in Darlington, for the cortege.

Flowers should be sent to 10 Ridgeway.

Mrs McCabe and Mrs Wilby thanked police for everything they have done for the family since Ms Glen’s death. They also thanked funeral director Saint and Foster for its help and support, and Mr McCabe thanked his employer, steelmakers SSI, for its support.

Police were called to Ms Glen’s flat after reports that a woman had been stabbed.

Despite the efforts of neighbours, who came to her aid as she lay wounded, she died in the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, in the early hours of October 20.

Joseph William Turner, 61, of Sanderson Street, Darlington, appeared in court last month charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on January 8.
