Pupils do their bit for Children In Need
STUDENTS and teachers got dressed up and beat their drums today (Friday) for Children in Need.
Pupils and staff at Elemore Hall School, in Pittington, near Durham City, held a day of fund raising events for the cause.
This is the second fundraising event they have held this term with little to no prompting from their teachers.
Gail Kirkby, a child care officer who helps oversee the school council, said: "One of the ideas was to set up a council to run charity events so they could raise money for other people."
In September they raised more than £400 for Macmillan Cancer Care with a Big Coffee Morning.
Today, they turned their fund-raising efforts towards Children in Need.
One of the highlights of the event was a students versus teachers football match, with people dressing up as Captain America or Postman Pat, among others, to compete.
Head teacher, Richard Royal, decided to base his costume on his name and dressed up as King Richard.
