NEW College in Durham City has lived up to its reputation for innovation by investing in world class new video facilities.

The college has invested in what it describes as a full digital media solution from the IT company Tripleplay.

The investment includes Digital Signage strategically placed around the college and their own IPTV and Video on Demand streaming system.

The Digital Signage allows the college to communicate more effectively and efficiently with their students whilst their IPTV and Video on Demand system has enabled access to video content in the classroom without the need for bulky AV equipment.

Accessed via the TripleChoice Media Portal, which New College Durham has rebranded as NCD TV, they have created an online repository for all of the College's media resources.

Director of ICT, Alan Race is delighted with the impact the solution has had; "By using TripleChoice we hoped that the solution would reduce media costs and open a path to move technology forward, which it has. We believe that with Tripleplay we have created a great platform to enhance our students' learning experience."

Systems Development Manager at New College Durham, Joy Saini emphasised this point; "TripleChoice Education Media Portal has everything we could need in a user interface. We can use it to record content from live TV, bookmark videos, add comments to timelines and edit videos to suit a teacher's requirement. It has been a great purchase and is allowing us to grow the resources we offer to the College community."

Tripleplay's James Keen commented; "The technology that New College Durham is making available to its students is really cutting edge. They are allowing their students to learn in a way that is natural to them, via video content, another clear indicator of how forward thinking this College is."
