A SHORTLIST of some of the best food businesses in North Yorkshire has been drawn up.
The Flavours of Herriot Country Awards aims to reward some of the best cafes, restaurants and food producers in Hambleton and Richmondshire.
Over the past months judges have been anonymously visiting the food, drink and hospitality organisations in a bid to select the winner.
The awards have been organised by the Herriot Country Tourism Group and supported by Welcome to Yorkshire.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony held at Thirsk Racecourse on Friday (November 16).
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: ”The people behind these Herriot Country cafes, dining pubs, restaurants and food shops all deserve recognition for their contribution to the Yorkshire food scene.
“Thanks to them we have an international reputation for our food and hospitality and choosing the winners will be a tough task.”
Awards this year are for best food producer of the year and best tea room, restaurant, village shop, specialist retailer, dining pub, foods of the world, independent butcher, fish and chip shop and independent brewery.
