A TRADITIONAL gang show will return to a north Durham theatre next week.

More than 50 Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts from across County Durham will perform a mix of song, dance, theatre and comedy sketches at the Lamplight Arts Centre, in Stanley, at 7.15pm from Tuesday November 20 to Saturday November 24.

The youngsters have spent months preparing for the Derwentside Gang Show.

Most of the young performers are from Derwentside, but some have travelled from as far afield as Weardale, Darlington and Teesside.

Producer Bryan Johnson said: "The gang show is a real tradition in scouting.

“The aim isn’t to raise funds, but to break even. The main purpose is to build up the self-confidence of young people and bring together to bring them out of themselves.”

The production has been supported by the Stanley Area Action Partnership.

There is a Saturday matinee at 2pm. Tickets, priced from £5 to £7.50 can be booked by calling (01207) 218899 or visiting www.leisureworksonline.co.uk.
