LIFEBOATMEN rescued two people on a pleasure craft that had radioed for help earlier today.

Hartlepool RNLI responded to the coastguard’s call for assistance, at 1.51pm to help a 30ft power cruiser that had lost power just off the Heugh.

The lifeboat was launched at 1.58pm and towed the stricken vessel into the town’s marina.

Matt Adams, Helm on Hartlepool RNLI’s inshore lifeboat said: “Two men were enjoying a day’s fishing when a wave knocked out the cruiser’s power. We towed them into the marina and neither man suffered any injuries.”
