MORE used to much warmer climes, a Bee-eater has been spotted in Sunderland.
The bird is normally found in North Africa or Southern Europe, but has moved into the Fulwell area of the city.
It is the second rare bird to be seen in the area recently, with a Little Bunting sighted in Elba Park earlier this week.
This latest visitor has prompted bird watchers to flock to the area from all over the North of England.
Household Kirk Adamson said he believed the bird was eating wasps from a nest under his property's eaves.
"I did see it about two weeks ago and I thought it was a kingfisher," he said.
"All these people arrived one morning. I asked one of them what it was and they told me it was a very rare bird and they've been multiplying ever since."
It is believed both birds have been blown off course during migration.
