A 21-GUN salute by the Yorkshire Gunners will mark Prince Charles’ 64th birthday next week.
On Wednesday (November 14) a military parade will march from Duncombe Place, near York Minster, to the Museum Gardens where, on the stroke of noon, gunfire will echo around the city walls.
The three 105mm light guns will be fired by the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, also known as the Yorkshire Gunners, in front of gathered crowds.
Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Nigel Sherlock OBE, will be the Inspecting Officer for the saluting troop from Catterick Garrison, as well as members of the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band.
He will be accompanied by Brigadier Greville Bibby CBE, Commander of 15 (North East) Brigade and York Garrison.
York is one of 12 saluting stations in Britain, which includes London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff, and is the only one in the North of England.
