TWO entrepreneurs have found a way to capitalise on the plunging temperatures and rising power prices to start a new business selling logs and firewood to customers across the North East.
Dave Scaman and Gary Walker, who have been friends for more than ten years, have joined forces to set up Wearside-based GD Logs which has secured a number of customers including nurseries and restaurants since it was set up a month ago.
Mr Scaman, 31, already runs his own successful landscape gardening company but wanted to diversify to create another source of income during the winter months.
Mr Walker, also 31, said: “In these times more than ever people are looking at alternative fuel sources to gas and electricity. With all the big six energy providers having recently announced price rises there couldn’t have been a better time to launch our business.
“We are selling a quality product, sourced locally for local people and businesses and it’s fantastic to be selling a good quality ethical product.”
