What's included in The Northern Echo subscription packages and what do they cost?

We provide three superb subscription options. Echo Digital VALUE, Echo Digital PLUS and Echo Print PLUS provide unlimited news access via our desktop and mobile websites, daily and weekly newsletters, the chance to join the online commenting community plus access to our IOS and Android apps for Smartphone or Tablet.

With Echo Print PLUS, you also get a paper subscription - The Northern Echo newspaper, 6 days a week and an annual saving of over 50% on the combined cost of the Digital PLUS subscription and buying the newspaper over the counter.

What does Ad-light mean?

How can I access the digital content for The Northern Echo?

You can access all our content via this website a well as IOS and Android apps for smartphone.

To access subscriber only content on the websites, please first subscribe and then login.

To access the apps, download them from the Apple store or from  Google Play. After downloading and opening the apps, you will be asked to login. You should do so using your The Northern Echo credentials so please ensure you have subscribed first.

Why does The Northern Echo have two apps in the Apple Store?

The Northern Echo news app that is offered as part of our subscription packages can be found on the Apple Store and Google Play and you'll recognise the correct app by this logo...

The Northern Echo also offers a 'newspaper replica' app in the Apple Store. Please note that this is available as a separate, paid app (via Apple In-app purchases) and is not available as part of the subscriptions packages detailed on this page.

Can I subscribe to both the newspaper and the digital content?

Yes. The 'Echo Digital PLUS' plan includes a newspaper option.

Do current newspaper-only subscribers have access to the digital content?

No, unlimited access to digital content is only available to subscribers via our Digital VALUE, Digital PLUS and Print PLUS subscription packages but you can register here to read up to 20 articles free per month.

But, you may convert your current newspaper order to Echo Print PLUS to receive the Digital Plus package for free, you receive the same delivery from your current The Northern Echo retailer but get the Digital PLUS subscription added at no additional cost. How will you use my data and what will you do with my details?

We respect your privacy and take protecting it very seriously. Our Privacy Policy covers what data we collect and how we use it. You can login to your account at any time, to update your details and unsubscribe from emails, and you can change or cancel your subscription here.

Protecting your payment details is paramount. All payment information we receive is encrypted using the latest security technology and your payment data is never stored on our systems.

How do I cancel my digital subscription?

You can cancel your subscription here or you can contact Joanne Ellerton on 0800 138 1420 or email  echosubscriptions@nqyne.co.uk and we will refund the amount outstanding on your subscription. If your subscription includes the newspaper we will refund you for the remaining vouchers that haven’t been sent out to you.

With Echo Print PLUS subscriptions, how do I receive my newspaper?

Once you have registered and paid for your subscription you will be sent a set of dated vouchers that you hand to your The Northern Echo retailer in payment for The Northern Echo. You can present these individually for copies bought over the counter or as payment for your home delivered copies from your local newsagent. If you have any difficulty in redeeming these vouchers please contact Joanne Ellerton on 0800 138 1420 or email echosubscriptions@nqyne.co.uk.

Can I put my subscription or membership on hold or take a break during holidays?

Sorry, this is currently not possible.

I'm an overseas customer, can I receive the newspaper as part of a subscription package?

Sorry, newspaper delivery overseas and outside The Northern Echo circulation area is not available as part of our subscription packages but you can access our huge range of local content via our websites and apps. For overseas and out-of-area postal subscriptions please contact Joanne Ellerton on 0800 138 1420 or email echosubscriptions@nqyne.co.uk.

How do I log in?

You may login here using the email address and password you used during registration.

You should use the same credentials to login the tablet and smartphone apps as well.

I’ve forgotten my password?

If you’ve forgotten or don’t know your password you can reset it.

When I register, it says my email address is already in use?

It is most likely that you have already registered on this site or another site owned by our parent company, Newsquest Media Group Ltd. All you need to do is login using this email address and your password. If you have forgotten your password, simply click here to reset it.

I cannot register or I am having other technical difficulties - what do I do?

If you are still having trouble registering please contact Joanne Ellerton on 0800 138 1420 or email  echosubscriptions@nqyne.co.uk with full details of the issue you are experiencing and, if relevant, the error message that the system is displaying.
