UNDER 8'S END SEASON IN STYLE!

Home game against Hardwick Youth on Sunday 30th March saw the Under 8's final game of the season end in victory.

Rangers went 1-0 down after starting brightly and playing the better football of the two teams. Mark ROSS who was today's Man of the Match' and he scored the equaliser in the first half with a low drive past the Hardwick goalie for what was his first goal of the season. Half time saw both sides go in all square 1-1.

The second half was pretty much the same as the first for Rangers playing nice football and creating chance after chance with good saves from their goalie denying Taylor COAD, Leo KING and Mark ROSS. Hardwick also their own chances but strong defending by the ever improving Charlie WALKER and his partner George ROBINSON as well as James WALLIS helped to keep things tight at the back. Then a bit of luck for Rangers saw Sub Harry BATES come of the bench to score his 3rd goal in 3 games after a corner caused problems for Hardwick in the box Harry BATES put Rangers in front 2-1.

Unfortunately Hardwick scored an equaliser almost straight away from kick-off to make it 2-2.

However Rangers kept going and created more than enough chances to win the game and when Adam SCOTT made a brilliant diving save tipping the ball round the post it looked like a draw was inevitable. Then with 2 mins to go Mark ROSS picked up the ball on the right hand side of the box and saw his shot towards goal deflect off a defenders head and loop over the goalie and into the back of the net for what was to be the winning goal and his second of the game.

This put Rangers back in front and gave little time for Hardwick to reply. Final result 3-2.

TEAM; Adam SCOTT, George ROBINSON, Charlie WALKER, Mark ROSS, James WALLIS, Taylor COAD, Leo KING, (Sub on; Harry BATES) GOALS; Mark ROSS (2), Harry BATES.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U9's vs Middleton Rangers U9's Middleton secured a battling 3-1 victory on a difficult pitch. They weren't put off their stride even though they went behind in the first minute following a sliced clearance ending up in the net. Jake Charlton equalised, converting from close range, but Middleton couldn't add to this goal and the half finished all square. In the second half Middleton got on top and eventually made their pressure count, Rhys King added a second after the home keeper had made a good save, King then added a third with a great header from a corner, Aycliffe kept going till the end and had a couple of good chances but man of the match Cameron Brown made three outstanding saves. Team; Cameron Brown, Jack Cooper, James Green, Coel Young, Tom Snowden, Rhys King, Jake Charlton, Ross Hamilton.

In the second game Middleton ran out 3-0 winners and were outstanding, particularly Cameron Durent in defence. Ross Hamilton scored twice and Michael Cahill with a stunning shot to the top corner rounded off the scoring; another excellent performance from all. Team; Jamie Nelson, Cameron Durent, Ben Haulett, Tyler Wilson, Owen Heilbron, Michael Cahill.

The U10s A team continued their great run of form with an excellent 2-0 win away to Newton Aycliffe Youth. This means we have now taken 11 points from the last 6 games, to put this into context the team had taken only 3 points from the previous 12 games.

Middleton had a shaky start with Aycliffe putting some high balls into a strong wind causing the midfield and defence to make some uncharacteristic errors. However the team soon settled and started to dominate the midfield with Danny and Haani putting some good low balls through to Connor Ward-Playford while Alistair, Ben and Aidan Kennedy were solid in defence.

This tactic played off when Connor WP hit a great long range strike to give Middleton an early lead, the team continued to press and were unlucky not to score again before half time.

Aycliffe came out fighting in the second half and had several chances to equalise had it not been for some excellent saving tackles from the Middleton keeper Connor Pearce and some valiant defending from Alistair and Joe.

With Aycliffe pressing forward a breakaway was always on the cards and that is exactly what happened 5 minutes from time when Saafi played a great ball through to Connor WP who cooly chipped the Aycliffe keeper for his and Middletons second of the day.

The last 5 minutes again saw some frenetic attacking from a tired Aycliffe Youth but the Middleton team defended in strength giving the home side no way through.

Final score Newton Aycliffe Youth 0 - Middleton Rangers 2.

MoM Connor Ward-Playford.

Under 10's B match report 29/03/0 Two games planned and the first was against Sunderland who were fellow promotees at the end of the league.

The game got underway Rangers were straight into Sunderland, some early pressure was creating chances but not the final goal, Rangers were a little out of touch with the slick passing they normally have but we challenging all the time, a corner on the end of the first half came out to Alex Cox who struck it sweetly into the bottom corner only to be ruled out by the Referee as he had also blown for the end of the first half, is it the week of the Ref. The second half was more of the same as constant pressure from Rangers but they could not put the ball in the net, no matter how hard they tried. Final Score 0 - 0.

The second game had Rangers against Seaham, from the off Rangers wanted to press and make up for the dropped points in the previous game. It was Lewis Rees who opened the scoring and got them up and running, the first half ended 1 - 0, the second half continued in the same way, lots of pressure from Rangers but the goal door was not open today, lots of shots and posession but not the usual amount of goals. A long ball through the middle from Andrew Macnab in goal finished with a lovely lob over the keeper from Davy Parker. Final score 2 - 0, not the best day at the office for the lads.

Guisborough 1 Middleton Rangers U11's 2 Champions Middleton went to second placed Guisborough with most of the defence missing due to school activities. However the re-arranged team still found enough to overcome their rivals. The game swung end to end until Bradley Bell crossed to team mate Luca Dunn who slotted the ball home for a 1-0 half time lead.

The second half was just as competitive as the first with Rangers hitting the bar early on. Midway through the half Bradley Bell slotted home Rangers second goal for a 2-0 lead. As the game came into its final stages heavy Guisborough pressure mounted allowing them to win a penalty that was converted for a final score of 2-1 to Rangers. Middleton have now won 19 games out of 19 with their remaining fixture of the season to come.

Team - Rory Hunter, George Musty, , Josh Ferguson, Torren McKay, Joe Abbott, Mitchell Armin, Will Hughes, Jake Richardson, Aaron Chapman, Bradley Bell, Luca Dunn, Callum Crang.

Middleton U13"A" 7 St.Francis 2000 5 March 30th 2008 Middleton continued their inconsistent form by producing a fantastic display of attacking football that totally belied their age as they tore into St.Francis from the first whistle. Both halves were played in a fantastic spirit as St.Francis did well to stay Middleton who lead the game from start to finish ,but at times were pegged back by some great determination from the opponents. The teams produced a twelve goal thriller with great performances for Middleton coming from,Conner Goodfellow,Connor Geldart,Haydn Mckenna and Carl Wigham to try and stop their agile speedy opponents. In Midfield Kyle Hacking,Danny Paylor,Gavin Watson and debutant Danny Hodgson performed well with non stop tackling and creating. While up front Jack Thubron and Thomas Waldock combined superbly on numerous occasions to create bags of chances for each other.Thomas stole the show on this occasion as he bagged himself a double hat trick but Jack wasn't to be outdone as he grabbed the last goal of the game with a sublime run and chip over the advancing keeper. For his goals Thomas won the man of the match award, but their was plenty of superb players throughout the game.

Team:Danny Gladstone , Gavin Watson , Carl Wigham , Haydn Mckenna , Connor Geldart , Kyle Hacking , Danny Paylor , Conner Goodfellow , Danny Hodgson , Jack Thubron,Thomas Waldock.

Brompton Juniors 1 V Middleton Rangers U14's 1 This was a cracking game between the first & second placed clubs in the division. Rangers nearly took an early lead after striker Craig Abbott put the ball just round Juniors post. Middleton had long periods of play but Brompton threatened throughout by launching fast breaks and hitting Middleton at speed. Middleton were depleted in numbers and this eventually told when Brompton struck with a quick break and slotted the ball home for 1-0. Rangers dug seep and pushed up the pitch, eventually this brought success as striker Craig Abbott lobbed the on-coming keeper to level the score at half time 1-1.

The second half was similar to the first with Rangers taking the game to Brompton. The numerical advantage in favour of Brompton started to show late in the game, and outstanding Rangers defence & midfield work thwarted Brompton's lightening attacks. As the game finished both teams started to grow tired, as one of the best games of the season ended 1-1. The promotion battle appears to going to the wire.

Team - Richard Dinsdale, Andy Hunt, John Meki, James Anderson, Shane Hall, Jack Binks, Liam Gent, Beej Turnbull, Richard Herrington, Ryan Gayles, Ryan Dodds, Taylor Cardus, Mike Noble, Tom Bowman, Kyle Piper, Craig Abbott.
