Middleton Rangers U11's 20 V Cargo Fleet 0 Table toppers Middleton turned on the style today with a perfect performance. Blistering in attack, competitive across the midfield , and their defence stood like the rock of Gibraltar. However , credit must go to Cargo Fleet who from the very start, to the end, kept going and fighting, never once letting their heads drop. In terrible ice cold weather conditions Middleton took the game to Cargo hitting nine goals in an impressive first half. Some of Midldetons passing sequences were awesome, and the speed of their forward movement was a delight to see. The scorers were - Will Hughes , Mitchell Armin, Lucca Dunn , Joe Abbott , Jake Richardson 3, Aaron Chapman 2.

The second half saw Middleton kicking into the ice cold wind and playing up the slope. However, from the kick off they once again took control of the game. This control saw Middleton score a further 11 goals by Lucca Dunn 3, Joe Abbott 4, Aaron Chapman 4. As the game came towards the end, still Cargo pushed forward and Middletons defence had to keep on the guard to keep a blank scoreline. This 20 - 0 win secures Middletons well earned place at the top of the league, having the most prolific strike force, and meanest defence around.

Team Alex Scott, Josh Ferguson, Matty Anderson, George Musty, Torren Mckay Callum Bensley, Aaron Chapman, Joe Abbott, Lucca Dunn, Will Hughes, Mitchel Armin, Jake Richardson, Andrew Jack, Bradley Bell, Joint Man of the Match ( shared ) - Joe Abbott & Aaron Chapman Leven 1 V Middleton Rangers U14s 4 Middleton kept the pressure on their fellow promotion rivals winning 4-1 away to Leven. On a freezing cold day Rangers took the lead after five minutes when a goal bound shot by Liam Gent was clipped home by fellow forward Jack Binks for 1-0. Soon after this Middleton increased their lead when Beej Turnbull fired home from the edge of the box for 2-0. Pressure was mounting from Middleton with Jack Binks just missing with a good header after a few close Middleton chances. Beej Turnbull then broke through the Leven defence to put home a well taken goal with his weaker foot 3-0. Leven came back strong at Rangers pulling a goal back with a well taken long shot into the roof of Middletons net. To complete a good half for Middleton Liam Gent popped up in the goalmouth to head home from a corner for a half time score of 4-1 to Rangers.

The second half was an even, competitive half, in which both teams stifled the opposition.. With the weather worsening all the time a midfield battle ensued with neither team able to put the ball in the net. The nearest Middleton came to increasing their lead was when a Richard Herrington Cross to Ryan Gayles was just headed over the bar. Final score 4-1 to Middleton and this keeps Middleton top of their league.

Team - Dinsdale, Anderson, Meki, Hall, Hunt, Herrington, Turnbull, Binks, Dodds, Gayles, Gent, Abbott, Noble, Bowman, Cardus.

Middleton Rangers vs Spraire Lads U'9's Middleton lost a close game 3-2 in difficult conditions, although both sides put on an entertaining game. Middleton got off to a good start but against the run of play Spraire scored two quick goals and went into half time with a 2-0 lead. In the second half Middleton came out firing on all cylinders and played some excellent football. Jake Charlton capped a fine performance with a tremendous finish to pull one back before man of the match Ross Hamilton scored a spectacular second hitting the top corner from distance. Middleton, now well on top continued to press with James Green going close. Middleton couldn't make the pressure count however, and in the last minute Spraire managed to find the all decisive goal.

Friendly In the friendly match Spraire ran out 2-0 winners. This game was as entertaining as the first with both teams having plenty of chances to score. All players should be applauded for their efforts, with Jack Cooper's powerful performance in defence standing out.
