Hardwick Youth 1 V Middleton Rangers U11's 6 Middleton seized their chance to take over at the top of the table with this 6-1 victory at Hardwick. Middleton played the first half up the sloping pitch and against the wind. As the first half progressed Midldleton slowly started to take charge of the game. Some solid defending by the leagues tightest defence, coupled with Middleton's usual fast breaks pushed Hardwick further up the field. Eventually Rangers took the lead 1-0 when a cross into the box was firmly struck into the net by Joe Abbott . A momentary lapse in concentration by Middleton followed, that allowed Hardwick to pull level for a half time score of 1-1.
The second half was even for the first 15 minutes, however, once again Middleton, the leagues top scorers, pressure started to tell. Aaron Chapman ran onto a good Callum Bensley long ball to slot home for a 2-1 Middleton lead. Aaron then scored a fantastic goal slicing through the Hardwick midfield & defence to slot the ball home 3-1. Middletons pressure was now unstoppable as Will Hughes ran onto a through ball and fired home for a 4-1 Rangers lead. Will Hughes quickly followed up again, scoring after a goal mouth scramble 5-1. Middleton Rangers 3 Billingham Wanderers 2 11/11/2007 Middleton Rangers travelled to Billingham Wanderers on this Remembrance Sunday desperate for a win after losing all other 6 games in the league this season. Billingham Wanderers at 4th in the league were probably expecting an easy 3 points from the game. A hectic first ten minutes with some good passing and strong tackles going in and plenty of chances from both sides but none hitting the net. Rangers were first to score when Joe Hepple received the ball on the left and ran at the defence skipping past a few when he hit a cheeky lob over the keeper to put Rangers in the lead. Billingham responded within a few minutes to bring it even and it looked like we had a game on our hands and for the rest of the game that's exactly what we got. Rangers went 2-1 up when Matthew Allenby who had been unlucky on a few occasions scored from inside a packed penalty box. Billingham had plenty of shots and kept the pressure on when the referee gave a penalty after a push in the back. Wanderers forward stepped up and blasted it against the bar only for it to come down to a Wanderers player who slotted it in the back of the net! 2-2 and the game was even again. End to end action and chances galore from both sides when Billingham were awarded yet another penalty. Rangers were looking at possibly another defeat but were let off when the striker put it over the goal for a goal kick. Rangers kept the pressure on with only a few minutes to go were rewarded when Ryan Hamilton challenged for a header and hit the net. For the last few minutes Rangers had to defend as Billingham desperately piled the pressure on in search for an equaliser. A thoroughly enjoyable game to watch with all the thrills and spills from match of the day! Man of the Match today was Joe Hepple who turned the defenders inside out all game.
Sunday November 11th 2007 MIddleton Ranger's U10's v 21st Allstars Another exciting game full of goal mouth incident and great football by both sides finished with a loss for Rangers U10's. Rangers once again showed how they have improved in recent games and the All stars had to battle very hard for their 3-1 win. The game was on edge until the final moments stuck on a score line of 1-1 until the All stars got 2 late goals to clinch a hard earned victory. Rangers hit the post in the first half with an excellent strike from Daniel C after they had gone 1 goal behind. They had most of the first half possession and their domination paid dividend with an early second half goal from Saafi R. They continued to attack and looked like the most likely team to win until All stars scored 2 on the counter attack. It was a great match to watch with both teams contributing to a very exciting and well tempered game. Rangers squad is showing great improvement and it is only a matter of time before the results start going their way. Conner P had a good game in goal , Alistair man of the match once again had an excellent game in defence alongside Ben. The midfield trio of Conner W , Haani and Danny worked hard with some good passing, shooting and tackling. Conner W came close with an overhead kick that deserved a goal. Saafi always looked a threat in front of goal.
The friendly once again was a close match settled by an outstanding performance and free kick from Aidan R to settle the game as 1-0 win for Rangers. Josh M was unbeatable in goal, once again Harry showed he was becoming an accomplished defender alongside Conner P. Good performances from Matty also demonstrated the strong depth in the Rangers Squad.
Under 13 A 2 Stokesley F.C. U13 3 Middleton entertained 3rd Division pace setters Stokesley for the 2nd time this season hoping to add to their earlier 5-1 victory and set about the task in great style with a great surging run from centre back Tom Pilkington finding Winger Gavin Watson with a lovely pass who then whipped in a great early cross for Jonathan Keech to strike home on the half volley for 1-0.Skokesley were now on the back foot, and Middleton piled on the pressure but could not find any further goals before half time.
The 2nd half continued in the same way as many chances went begging untill Stokesley grabbed an equaliser with 15 minutes left with a fantastic shot into the top corner which Rangers keeper Robin Page had no chance of stopping. This sparked an immediate response from Rangers as a free kick was won by Keech 25 yards out and Tom Pilkington thundered home a wonderful low strike into the bottom corner for 2-1 to Middleton. In the last 6 minutes the tie was turned on it's head as Stokesley got an equaliser and then scored a great free kick right on time to stun Rangers.Well done to Connor Geldart making his debut for Rangers, slotting well into midfield.
This was a really good Rangers performance and a terrific game to watch for a neutral, played in the right spirit by both teams.
Matty Simmons at right back for Middleton won the man of the match trophy for a strong defensive performance.
