Norton & Stockton U9's 2-1 Mount Pleasant Rangers U9's (A.E.T)

Mount Pleasant Rangers were dealt a cruel twist of fate on Sunday and denied a cup final appearance as their spectacular cup run undeservedly came to an end.

Rangers worked hard and a strike from Ethan Harker took them into half time with a one nil lead. The home side levelled up as a freakish corner sailed straight in the net to take the game to extra time.

A deflected strike put Norton in front in second half extra time. Credit to Rangers who pressed on for an equaliser and thought they had grabbed a late goal when Ethan Harker hit a great strike over the goal keeper.

However the referee was the only person at the game who missed the ball go clearly over the line and Mount Pleasant were harshly denied a cup final appearance.

The way the game ended was hard to take for Mount Pleasant who should not be disappointed as their performances throughout the competition symbolise the improvement and continual progression they have made this season. Man of the match was captain James Henry. Friendly man of the match: keeper Paul Palmer.
