under 12's A 1 - 4 South park Rangers
Goalscorer(s):Callum Sweeten (1)
MOM:Robert West
Darlington 21st Allstars were away in yet another windy fixture, against South park rangers. Playing against the wind in the first half the Darlington 21st Allstars were 1-0 down after ten minutes after South Park Rangers broke forward in numbers assisted by the wind. Darlington 21st Allstars were a bit sluggish at first, but managed to break on several occasions with Luke Kershaw having a shot saved and a good header going just over the bar. Darlington 21st Allstars were under pressure again with Marcus Williams in goal pulling off a fine save to deny the south park forwards. From the resulting corner however South Park Rangers scored again after a goal mouth scramble. 2-0 on 20 minutes. Another certain goal was thwarted by Zac Fluen who headed off the line, but the resulting corner was banged home for south parks Rangers third goal just before half time. 3-0.
The second half saw Darlington 21st Allstars come alive with a more confident approach to the game. A short corner saw Robert West pass to Luke Kershaw, who crossed a great ball into the goal mouth for Callum Sweeten to head in making the score 3-1. It was now game on, with Darlington 21st Allstars dominating the second half, shots coming from Luke Kershaw, Robert West, and James Oliver.
Darlington 21st Allstars couldn't find the elusive goals though and South Park Rangers scored again ten minutes from time to make the final score 4-1.
Not a game to be too upset over, as certain players tried for every ball and had a good never say die approach to the game.
Under 10 Colts 1 - 1 Middleton Rangers
GOALSCORERS: Ferguson
M.O.M: Angus Ferguson
REPORT:
A draw was a fair result with Allstars coming from behind. Middleton Rangers were the most sprightly of the two teams in the first half, hitting the post, and with Allstars not clicking in midfield. The first goal followed an awkward challenge from keeper Jack Darragh in a one-on-one outside the box but the ref gave a penalty. Robin Dell in defence had to be replaced after a brave and strong tackle damaged his knee. Allstars re-grouped at half time and brought a degree of urgency to their game with passes improving. A deft flick from George Mills (worthy of his orange boots) released Angus Ferguson who anticipated well and placed the ball past the keeper. Allstars raised the pressure as the game went on with success down the wings and could have grabbed it at the finish.
Man of the Match was Angus Ferguson for his work on the left and goal that levelled the score.
Second game was also a draw with Middleton taking the lead again from a freaky looping goal. Callum Brass, who again had a good solid game, played well in defence putting in well timed tackles. Midfield was untidy and scrappy at times and chances were created but not finished. Matthew Bell, on as sub, fought well down the left and was first to react and jump on a chance from a corner to equalise. Allstars pushed for a winner with Sam Boulton and Nathan Finlay working throw-ins well to make progress down the wing but a draw was the result.
Man of the match was close with Sam Boulton winning the award for good performances in both games.
