David Wallinger springs a surprise return

After a series of dialogues with the Redcar TLS/Simpson Racing UK team manager Jason Pipe during the past week - David Wallinger who had announced his retirement earlier in the month has agreed to race in the Conference League for 2008 after all.

Commented Jason: 'David is now raring to go and can't wait for his season to start and I'm sure the fans will get behind him 100%.

I'm pleased he has sorted his off-track problems out and I do believe that David is a rider for the future and will one day reach his dream of becoming a Redcar Bear in the Premier League.' David won the junior version of 'The most improved rider' at the club's 2007 end-of-season awards.

Jason continued: 'Having signed Aussie Aaron Summers in the previous 24 hours and now with David Wallinger having agreed to ride, I do believe that we can hit that 4th spot in the league to qualify for the Play Offs.' The provisional Cubs line-uo for their first fixture against the Boston Barracudas at the Norfolk Arena in a challenge match on Wednesday April 9th is- 1. Scott James 2. Martin Emerson 3. Jade Mudgway 4. Gary Beaton (C) 5. Aaron Summers 6. David Wallinger 7. Guy Kendrew The first home match in the Conference League is on Saturday April 12th at the Motorpark when the Redcar 'TLS/Simpson Racing UK' Cubs take on the Buxton Hitmen. Start time to be confirmed in subsequent media releases.

New Zealander Mudgeway made his track debut at the South Tees Motorpark on Thursday evening in the second-half event - posting two encouraging victories in the process.
