Redcar Bears
Cubs enjoy early challenge
The Redcar Cubs are to race a one-off challenge against the Boston Barracudas at the Norfolk Arena on Friday April 11th - the night before opening their Conference League campaign against the Buxton Hitmen at the South Tees Motorsport Park.
Cubs Team Manager Jason Pipe sees this as a welcome opportunity: "This will give us a chance to blow away any cobwebs before we roar into action against Buxton.
"I feel happy that the lads have got the chance of this challenge to make sure they have matters sorted out with their bikes.
"I would rather have any niggling bike problems, were we to suffer them, on that night rather than the Saturday when league points are up for grabs."
Last season Conference League matches were mainly staged on a Saturday afternoon but Redcar club boss Glyn Taylor is in negotiation with the local authority for permission to stage Saturday evening fixtures in 2008.
There are also Thursday evening fixtures scheduled for May 22nd versus the Scunthorpe Saints and August 21st against Boston.
